One of the worst things that can happen while moving is finding out your TV was shattered. At A-1 Freeman Moving Group, we know it’s terrible to finally get all settled in but not be able to relax in front of the TV because it broke. We want to make sure your move is as stressless as it can be here in Atlanta, whether you are moving somewhere locally or long distance. To help you out we decided to write up a few tips and tricks to use when you are you need to pack up your TV.
In order to move your television, you’re going to
need a box that’s appropriate for transporting your TV. Using the box and packaging that it came in is a good plan – if you kept it. If you got rid of it though, you can buy a box specifically made for moving flat-screen TVs from either a hardware store or a moving supply retailer. You should get a box that is just a little bit bigger than the TV, but not by a lot; you don’t want the TV to shift around when it’s inside. Moving fragile and expensive items requires
packing and moving training and knowledge, not simply large trucks or specialized equipment. At A-1 Freeman Moving Group our team of experienced movers will help you with your move in any and every way you need, even if it’s just packing up your television.
Before you start packing it up, you should snap a few pictures behind your television with the cords still plugged in. This will make your life way easier when you have to reinstall your television. Then, get your TV ready to pack. Unplug it and take out the main cord, then all other connecting cords. Place all of them inside a bag together and keep it with the box. You may have a base you have to remove from the television to fit it in the box. If this is the case, put all the parts inside a reclosable bag and keep it in the box with the TV’s base so nothing gets lost.
After this is done, you can start to pack it up. No matter if your new home is
far from Atlanta or you are simply
moving locally, it’s important to make sure your television is fully covered. You should use foam pieces to go over the TV screen, these will come in your kit if you’ve bought one, or in the box that your TV came in originally if you are using that. The foam not only keeps the screen from being scratched, but it also will stop your television from bumping around in the box when you’re moving. Secure the foam pieces using mover’s wrap or tape. Then use blankets or sheets to cover the whole TV and prevent it from being scratched.
When your TV is completely covered up it’s up to you to put it into the box! Keep it upright as you do this, and secure it as well as you can by filling spaces with blankets. This will help keep the TV from moving around in its box.
The last step is to get the television inside of the truck. Keep the box upright and try to put it next to other smooth, sturdy objects, including your mattress, dresser, or a bookshelf. Remember to keep your cables by the TV, whether they’re in a bag taped to the side or in another box.
Once that’s done you’re ready to go! Hopefully you have a
moving company here in Atlanta to help you out, getting you across the country or your town quickly and safely, with all of your stuff intact. If not, A-1 Freeman Moving Group has got you covered! We can move you fast and efficiently, and we’ll make sure your TV is safe and sound so you have it all up and running when the big game comes around.
