Moving - Long Distance MovingMoving long distances is a turbulent time for any one. Despite the situation of the move, stress is elevated, is going to be working its way through your veins, and there’s going to be a ton of packing to do. Thankfully, there are not a big number of dissimilarity between a long distance move and a local one other than the distance you drive. However, the differences that exist are ones that you’ll need to be aware of in order for your move to go as smooth as possible.
  1. Long distance means higher cost. Sadly, this is just a fact as the more mileage you travel, the more gas and time will be required. This goes for both DIY movers and moving companies the same. You’ll want to properly plan for the distance when budgeting your move.

  2. Packing the truck takes some extra care. Again, this appears to be something that would be identical regardless of how far you’re traveling, but in reality it’s even more critical when it comes to long distance moves. The longer that you drive the higher the odds of hitting a bump in the road or taking a turn a little too tight. Be sure that you’ve correctly packed the truck with all the heavy items on the bottom and you leave as little open space as you can.

  3. Make sure your moving company is an interstate company. There are two terms which are very easy to confuse in the moving industry: interstate moving and intrastate moving. If you’re moving long distance and need some professional help, you’ll need an INTERstate mover. INTRAstate is a moving company that only travels inside the same state. Make sure your moving company of choice has the right capabilities!

  5. When employing a long distance moving company, be sure they’re properly licensed and registered. They should have an assigned USDOT number, have the proper amount of insurance for your move, and be registered with the FMCSA. Do not allow] a cheaper, unlicensed company to end up costing you more in the end.

Very pleased with the overall respect and care the men gave to my possessions. Even mailing me very quickly the only thing lost in transit. Would recommend to anyone needing a long distant move.
